È la più grande esercitazione aerea mai realizzata in Europa, con caccia, bombardieri e aerei di rifornimento in volo americani appena arrivati che formano il nucleo del contingente unificante di oltre 200 aerei partecipanti.
Ci viene detto che la Germania è il centro delle operazioni aeree e che l’obiettivo di queste esercitazioni è puramente “difensivo, per mostrare alla Russia cosa l’aspetta se decidesse di attaccare uno stato membro della NATO.”
Nel frattempo, nei media alternativi, alcuni hanno sollevato la possibilità che l’Air Defender 23 possa essere utilizzato come copertura per un’eventuale penetrazione nello spazio aereo ucraino da parte di F-16 che sarebbero pilotati da ucraini.
Il sospetto è che le manovre di “addestramento” rispecchino il modus operandi dell’estate 2022, quando le esercitazioni navali della NATO furono utilizzate per coprire le operazioni subacquee per piazzare gli esplosivi in fondo al Baltico,
che avrebbero distrutto le condutture del NordStream a comando differito a settembre.
I media russi tacciono per il momento sulla minaccia di un ingresso dell’F-16 in zona di guerra. Tuttavia, dalla postura generale delle forze armate russe è abbastanza chiaro che qualsiasi incursione di questo tipo provocherà rapide contromisure russe, ovvero l’abbattimento degli aerei che violano le regole di non volo de facto in vigore.
Di conseguenza, stiamo entrando forse nel più pericoloso confronto Est-Ovest dai tempi del ponte aereo alleato su Berlino all’inizio della prima Guerra Fredda
The BBC and Euronews this morning were featuring the start of Europe’s largest ever air force exercises for which newly arrived U.S. fighter jets, bombers and mid-air refueling planes form the central unifying contingent in the more than 200 participating aircraft.
We are told Germany is the center of the air operations and that the purpose of the exercises is purely defensive, to demonstrate to Russia what awaits it if it should decide to attack a NATO member state.
Meanwhile, in alternative media some have raised the possibility that Air Defender 23 will be used as a cover for possible penetration of Ukrainian air space by F-16s said to be piloted by Ukrainians. This, they say, would repeat the way NATO naval exercises in the summer of 2022 were used to provide cover for the underwater operations that put in place explosives at the sea floor which destroyed Nord Stream 1 pipelines by deferred command in September.
Russian media are for the moment silent about any such threat of F-16s entering the war zone. However, it is fairly clear from the overall posture of the Russian military that any such incursions will prompt swift Russian countermeasures, meaning the shooting down of airplanes violating the de facto no fly rules in place.
